Crossing the Finishing Line

Shower screen installed? - check

Curtains in? - check

It took longer than expected, but here's the "finished product", sans the rest of the furniture.

And now, time to start the most pleasurable part of renovations - the soft decoration part of the flat. :)

Living room, with the curtains in
Looking out towards the front door, through the dining area. The living room's off to the right.
A brighter look at the same scene

Even managed to get the bicycle tyres inflated! *pat on back* Will be trying out the park connectors to get the bicycle over to my new home over the weekend. Fingers crossed I don't get killed on the way...:P

Last Stretch

Granted, I've been saying this for WEEKS. But really, Proj NH is finally on its last stretch! Apart from the shower screen, renovations are almost complete. Bought a shopping trolley (macam "aunty"), and stocked up on cleaning products. Brought my "transportable" music system in for entertainment. And proceeded to spend the day indulging in therapeutic cleaning and decorating of the flat. :)

Here're some little vignettes I spent the day setting up. Ta-dah! I present to you...
The entryway! Check out the floral arrangement of lilies, sitting on the "donated" console table.
The marble table, lamp and sculpture, recovered from SC.
The "donated" sofa, stripped of its covers (for laundry purposes), together with all the bits and bobs recovered from SC.

The rest of my furniture aren't even in yet!

Sadly, the dining table I got off eBay (a good bargain) was damaged by the seller's daughter before collection, and the seller was good enough to refund me the money. So, I'm on the prowl again...

Just so you know...

On my way back from the framing shop, I passed by this.

So now you know the "hourly" and "per night" rate...You never know! Information like this could come in useful some day! :P

Hot, hot, hot!

On a recent night out, we challenged our taste buds at 天下第一刷 in Outram Road. If you fancy yourself a Master of spicy food, you should take up the gauntlet thrown in this restaurant here. After one sip, M was the only surviving challenger to the spicy stock! We started the evening innocently enough with a plate of thinly sliced pork with garlic sauce (tasty!).

Everyone started digging in when the stock started bubbling up. The herbal stock was pretty tasty, and was the stock of choice for all at the table.
A closer look at the stock. Take a look at the intimidating oily red szechuan "ma la" stock! I think our tastebuds went into shock and just gave up transmitting any messages to the brain centre after touching any food that came out of that stock! Hot, hot, HOT!!
The meal was accompanied by a hot cup of chinese tea, which came with interesting tea leaves and flower petals. Very fragrant!
Finishing off the night at the Wine Connection, guess who was the "designated driver"? :(

KC's Stopover

Selamat Hari Raya! A little belated, but I understand celebrations last 15 days, so should still count! :) These colourful festive decorations were hung up in Sultan Gate, Beach Road.
Famous Rochor Roast Duck - addition to our ...
...Beach Road Leong Kee BKT dinner!
Can you believe we could still fit supper in after that dinner??

"You like your what???" Another amazing moving advertisement, plying our roads

Day 2 : Lunch at HK Cafe. A familiar favourite for KC - luncheon meat and eggs on mee sua/rice

And how could we not pay a visit to our friendly Banana Leaf Apollo Curry Fish Head Restaurant? "Expensive" meal, if you count in the illegal parking fine I got! Luckily someone else foot the dinner bill...heh heh!

After the Storm

Fall, leaves, fall

By Emily Jane Brontë

Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away;
Lengthen night and shorten day;
Every leaf speaks bliss to me
Fluttering from the autumn tree.

I shall smile when wreaths of snow
Blossom where the rose should grow;
I shall sing when night’s decay
Ushers in a drearier day.

A surreal landscape awaited us today on our weekly walk. The storm in the early afternoon had caused a temperature difference sufficient to raise a mist. It stood paralyzed, suspended just above the water. Even the macaques, always busy haranguing the weekend warriors along the board walk, seemed to have been silenced by the hauntingly beautiful scene before our eyes, and were nowhere to be seen. It brought back memories of a cold autumn school day many moons ago...
